You may be curious about the reason why I'm writing this essay in English. I will give you both, a short and a long answer

Short one: I'm bored and want to try something new.

Long one: I stumbled upon an essay by my colleague and teammate, David Pešek while browsing the website of Tiimiakatemia Prague. I was inspired by him as I read an essay about the same book on the way home and made the decision to write an essay in English as well. It would be something new for me, and I could also slightly improve my written English. I essentially killed two birds with one stone.

The book summarizes the entirety of the tiimiakatemia concept. It describes every action we take on a daily basis and explains why we must take it.

I was a little disappointed by this book after reading it because it came almost eight months into our course of study. Instead of trying to understand the concept of tiimiakatemia slowly over the course of a whole year, as we currently do, we would likely have understood it sooner and faster if we had read the book earlier.

The one item that particularly caught my attention was the SECI model (cycle of knowledge, how it is created and shared among members of an organization)

It highlights the dynamic interplay between tacit and explicit knowledge and provides valuable insights into how teams and companies can effectively manage knowledge to foster innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Understanding the SECI Model:

The SECI model consists of four distinct modes of knowledge conversion: Socialization, Externalization, Combination, and Internalization.

Socialization (S):

Socialization I a term, used to describe the process of sharing knowledge and experience through direct interaction with someone. It happens when individuals within a team or organization interact with each other in conversations or other activities.

Externalization (E):

involves converting tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge. This process allows individuals to articulate their knowledge through metaphors, stories, or other ways of communication. By making it more accessible, it can be effectively shared and used by others.

Combination (C):

focuses on organizing explicit knowledge. It involves piecing up different pieces of explicit knowledge, such as data or documented information, to create new knowledge. This mode enables teams and organizations to effectively use existing knowledge for decision-making and problem-solving.

Internalization (I):

is the process of forming explicit knowledge into personal tacit knowledge. Individuals obtain explicit knowledge through learning, practice, and hands-on experience. By manifesting this knowledge, individuals can apply it effectively in their work, further developing their own expertise and contributing to the collective knowledge of the team or organization.

Effectiveness of the SECI Model:

The SECI model is highly effective for companies and teams seeking to improve their collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. By embracing this model, organizations can facilitate knowledge sharing, birth innovation, enhance organizational learning, and strengthen team cooperation.

Conclusion:

Overall, the SECI model offers a framework for understanding and managing knowledge creation and sharing within organizations.

I hope I didn't bore you to death with my essay. I initially aimed for an essay as short as possible, but as it turns out, the SECI model is just too wide of a topic to describe.
