Dalio bet evrything on a world recession whic never camed. He had let go everyone and borrow money from dad to pay the bills.
He was arrogant with his view which btw was completely wrong. Moreover, he was very public about his bet.
Whwn you encounter this kind of failuire you thing your life is ruined and you cant continue. But that isnt simply true

Everything is a machine
Almost everything is a complex system. We usually miss the bigger picture. Many things move in cycles. Some we notice easily (day and night) some come to us by suprise (100 year storm). When we encounter one czcle we tend to thing its unique (birth of our first child) but we should perceive it as what it really is. It will usually be very common and we can find many instances in the history.
Risk and reward
They naturally go together. You cant get reward without the risk. Only thing you can do is to learn how to balance the risk.
Biggest barrier
Ego barrier - our need to be right lies deep in our unconscious mind
Blind spot barrier - one person cant see everything, we all have slightly different view of the reality
Be radically open minded
Make your need to see the truth stronger than to be right.
Have thouthful dissagreement with people. This way you can look through their eyes and they through yours. Together you can independently come the best solutions.
