Friend Leadership is an amazing quick visual book to start with in Team Academy. It shows you the different steps of leadership that you should take a part in while studying Tiimi. Ultimately, your first focus should go to leading yourself, the next step is forming team significance and afterwards a leader emerges who ignites the team.
Heikki explains it in terms of elements.
An important tool for this part is your learning contract, where you learn to set goals for yourself and reach them.
This step is about trust and forming your team vision, mission and values. Your Leading Thoughts.
Here we thrive for a deep and meaningful leadership based on trust, learning and appreciation.
This one is all about brand building and creating meaningful customer relationships.
At this point it's about forming the performance indicators and rules.
I have to say that I wish we managed to fulfill these stages throughout our studies. I had the pleasure to be a part of two teams because I temporarily terminated my studies for a year and went to Amsterdam. In neither of these teams we managed to create and fulfill these steps of friend leadership. There was something on the way that we did not manage to get over. Although, I have to say that personally somewhere throughout my studies, whether it was in the team company or during our projects, I did go through these stages. Definitely not in this order and probably not in such an elegant way as described by Heikki, but I did.
